PRURIGO NODULARIS STARTS BENEATH THE SKIN

Although the cause of prurigo nodularis (PN) is not entirely understood, PN is thought to begin inside the body where an abnormal relationship between the skin, nervous system, and immune system can lead to inflammation. This contributes to PN symptoms.

The intense cycle of itching, scratching, and chronic inflammation can lead to the development of nodules (bumps) and potentially lasting scars.

About PN

PN is an uncommon chronic inflammatory skin disease that primarily affects adults. Signs and symptoms include itch lasting 6 weeks or longer, a history of repeated scratching, picking, or rubbing of the skin, and the presence of bumps.
