Inflammation can be an underlying
cause of Nasal Polyps.
The most common type of inflammation in nasal
polyp patients is Type 2.
NASAL POLYP PATIENTS
have Type 2 inflammation
While nasal polyp surgery removes nasal polyps and improves symptoms, it may not treat an underlying cause of nasal polyps, which means nasal polyps may grow back and you could need surgery again.
Nasal polyps don’t have to stop you from DUing more. No matter how they affect you, you can rest assured that others have similar
symptoms, experiences, and treatment goals. Here are a few individuals who may consider DUPIXENT for treatment of their Nasal Polyps.
Loss of Smell
Home brewer, guitar player
Derek didn’t think too much of his mild nasal blockage that often made it difficult for him to fall asleep in his mid-20s. But after symptoms worsened 2 years ago—making it difficult to smell his home-brewed beers—a Nasal Polyps diagnosis and multiple rounds of failed treatments led Derek in search of another treatment for his loss of smell and increased nasal congestion.

Since his diagnosis, Louis has undergone 3 sino-nasal surgeries. Each time, he thought his nasal polyps were finally behind him. Martin:
Hey, we have some cards stacked here with some questions that were sent from others struggling with CRSwNP and considering DUPIXENT. So, all right, here’s this first card. What was you road to diagnosis? Kathy, why don’t you start?
Kathy:
Thanks, Martin. Well, for me, in the beginning, I'd often get sinus infections.
Now, they'd go away eventually, but over time the infections got more frequent and wouldn't go away as easily. So, I could no longer smell my coffee in the morning or the fresh lilies in front of my home. After a CT scan, my ENT diagnosed me with CRSwNP.
Mark:
At a young age, I remember dealing with nasal congestion and excessive mucus. I always dealt with these symptoms, but it didn't really become a serious issue until my mid-30s. My symptoms became much more severe, and like Kathy I began to lose my sense of smell. Mucus would completely block my nostrils to the point where it was hard to breathe. My doctor prescribed me oral steroids, which provided some relief, but then my nasal polyps would return. It was very frustrating for me at the time.
Martin:
Okay, the next question is how did you find DUPIXENT? Kathy, we'll start with you again.
Kathy:
Well, I had surgery that helped to reduce my nasal polyps, but over time they grew back. So, that's when my specialist recommended DUPIXENT as an add-on to my current treatment. Before I started DUPIXENT, I told my doctor about all the medical conditions I had and medications I was taking.
So, my doctor and I talked about the potential benefits and risks of treatment, including those common side effects such as injection site reactions, and some serious side effects, including allergic reactions that can sometimes be severe, eye problems, inflammation of your blood vessels, and joint aches and pain.
Martin:
Last question, did you have any initial concerns when first hearing about DUPIXENT? Mark.
Mark:
When I first heard about DUPIXENT, I was getting ready to have a third surgery. I was in need of more oral steroids and antibiotics. I'd built a good relationship with my doctor, so when they suggested DUPIXENT, I trusted their recommendation.
Kathy:
I think I was nervous because—because it was a biologic drug, and I didn't know what a biologic drug was. But, you know, I did research on my own, and I talked to my doctor a lot. I have a great doctor and good lines of communication with him.
Martin:
Yeah, for me, I did have some concerns. Like you, I mean both of you, I did the research, and I really relied on the doctor quite a bit. After my doctor explained that it was an injection every other week, I felt more confident about moving forward with DUPIXENT.
Symptoms can include nasal congestion and trouble breathing through your nose, facial pain and pressure, a reduced sense of smell, fatigue and difficulty falling asleep
